Family Life Health In the Kitchen

Apple Pie Protein Smoothie

Things are finally settling down from our big move and I’m quite thrilled to get back to posting regularly again!

One thing that my husband and I are recommitting to is making healthier food choices now that we’re not stuck eating out everyday.  One way we’re doing this is replacing our normal convenience meals with nutrient-packed shakes.  Still quick, easy and tasty, but also healthy.  In the mornings we do a protein smoothie and in the afternoons the whole family gets a green smoothie.

For some reason, my stomach can’t handle a protein smoothie right off the bat.  So I tend to eat something small when I first get up like toast with peanut butter or a hardboiled egg.  A couple hours later when Josh is getting ready to leave for work, I blend up a protein smoothie with at least a serving of fruit.  That keeps me going through lunch easily!  I have to admit though, it can get boring fast.  So I’ve started coming up with some interesting twists on our typical morning fare!

This thing is delicious, and a perfect blend for someone wishing it were fall already.  And  it’s super quick and easy.

Apple Pie Protein Smoothie Ingredients | DaniSchnakenberg.com

Ingredients:

8oz of Almond Milk, Unsweetened
2 scoops of Vanilla Protein Powder (we love Shaklee 180 Vanilla Chai Smoothee Mix…PACKED with nutrients)
1 apple (I used a Gala)
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
5-6 ice cubes

Combine it all in a blender and enjoy!

PS — I already entered the recipe in MyFitnessPal for those that use it!
